What is carbamide peroxide?

Carbamide peroxide is the powerful whitening agent behind Opalescence Custom whitening. Peroxide breaks down into water, oxygen, and reactive oxygen molecules. These reactive oxygen molecules oxidize the bonds of discolored stain molecules. By changing the stain molecules, the tooth appearance becomes lighter.3
